Overview

The WAAW Foundation Scholarship is an undergraduate educational opportunity offered by the WAAW Foundation to support African women pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The programme aims to help talented female students overcome financial barriers to higher education while encouraging them to contribute to the advancement of STEM education in their communities. Selected scholars are also expected to participate in community engagement and university STEM chapters to inspire younger students, particularly girls, to explore scientific and technical fields.

Who can apply

Female undergraduate students enrolled in universities and colleges across Africa, including Ghana and other African countries, who are pursuing eligible STEM-related degrees are eligible for consideration. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, genuine financial need, leadership potential, a strong motivation to make a difference in society, and a commitment to community service.

What you get

Recipients receive a one-time grant of US$500, or its equivalent in the recipient's local currency, designed to contribute towards educational expenses. The award includes a structured payment arrangement linked to participation in required STEM outreach activities. Additionally, scholars gain access to a scholar community that supports peer learning, professional networking, and mentorship within STEM fields.
