Overview

The Fulbright Scholar Program 2027 is a fully funded international academic exchange sponsored by the U.S. government and administered in Pakistan by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan. The initiative offers Pakistani scholars, academics, researchers, professionals, and distinguished leaders the chance to undertake lectureship, postdoctoral research, or a combined approach at a college or university in the United States.

The programme lasts for up to ten months and aims to strengthen international educational cooperation, advance mutual understanding, and encourage professional and intellectual exchange between Pakistan and the United States. Selected participants share their expertise with American students, faculty, and community groups while also introducing them to Pakistani society and culture. Upon returning to Pakistan, scholars are expected to apply their gained knowledge toward national development and share their experiences with local colleagues, students, and community groups.

Who can apply

This opportunity is designed for qualified professionals, academics, researchers, and distinguished leaders who have already established themselves in their respective fields rather than those seeking a conventional graduate degree. Applicants must belong to the eligible applicant group of Pakistani scholars meeting the programme requirements. All academic disciplines are eligible to apply, with the exception of clinical medicine.

What you get

Selected participants receive comprehensive financial support for the duration of their approved academic activities in the United States. The funding covers international airfare for travel to and from the United States, a living stipend to help cover living expenses during the stay, an incidental research allowance for eligible academic and research-related costs, and health insurance coverage. Additionally, the programme provides financial support for one accompanying dependent.

Requirements

Applicants must submit three reference letters as part of their application materials. They are also required to secure at least one invitation letter from a U.S. university to host their academic activities.

Key dates

The application deadline is October 28, 2026. The programme is expected to start in Fall 2027, with the tentative announcement period occurring in Summer.
