Overview

The University of Oulu International Scholarship Plan provides funding opportunities for academically talented international students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees at the University of Oulu in Finland. This program supports students across various fields by reducing the cost of tuition for those enrolled in English-taught programs.

Who can apply

International students who meet the admissions criteria and are liable to pay tuition fees are eligible to apply. Citizens of non-EU/EEA countries must pay tuition fees and are eligible for the scholarship. Citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland are exempt from paying tuition fees when enrolled in an international Bachelor’s or Master’s program at the university. The scholarship can be awarded only once to any individual.

What you get

For undergraduate fee support, the four English-taught bachelor’s programmes charge €10,000 annually, with a 30% early-bird discount reducing the first-year fee to €7,000. Later-year waivers are set at 30% for three listed ICT programmes and 20% for International Business Management. Master’s discounts and waivers include first-year early-bird reductions ranging from 5% to 30% where offered, and second-year waivers ranging from 10% to 40% where offered. Renewal of these benefits requires completing at least 60 ECTS in the preceding year, including the programme’s required Finnish studies, and the early-bird payment window is three weeks after admission results. Additionally, a limited €3,000 Nokia Scholarship is available for selected ICT master’s programmes to support fast progress in System-on-Chip and Radio Frequency studies.

How to apply

There is no separate application system for the scholarship. Applications are submitted alongside the application for the chosen study program through the Studyinfo portal.

Key dates

The application period runs from January 8 to January 22, 2027, closing at 15:00 (3pm, GMT +2).
