University of Hamburg Scholarships In Germany 2027 (Funded)
Overview
The Universität Hamburg Merit Scholarships 2027 provide financial support to international students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Staatsexamen degrees in Germany. Hosted at Universität Hamburg, the program is open to all academic disciplines including natural sciences, humanities, law, engineering, and medicine. The scholarship awards funding for a duration of 12 months spanning two semesters, with a maximum possible support period of two years through re-application.
Who can apply
Applicants must be non-German citizens enrolled at Universität Hamburg for a minimum of two semesters for Bachelor and Staatsexamen programs, or at least one semester for Master programs. Candidates must not be eligible for BAföG funding. PhD and doctoral researchers are excluded from applying.
What you get
Successful recipients receive a monthly stipend of up to €992 to help cover living expenses during their studies.
Requirements
Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae, a motivation letter completed on the official template, and relevant academic records such as transcripts of records or STiNE performance accounts for Bachelor and Staatsexamen students, or the most recent degree certificate and transcript for Master students. Additionally, candidates must provide two evaluations from Universität Hamburg professors or lecturers holding doctoral degrees using the official template. Optional materials include proof of academic awards, publications, or achievements. A residence permit for non-EU students or an EU ID alongside a registration certificate is also required for verification. Documents not written in German or English must include certified translations.

Candidates must register and log into the online portal using their Universität Hamburg student email, complete the online application form, and upload all required documents. Applicants must also verify their identification or residence permit with the program coordinator via Zoom. All materials must be submitted through the portal.
