Overview
The University of Debrecen Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2027 provides fully funded opportunities for international students to pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degree programs in Hungary. Funded by the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program of the Hungarian Government, the initiative offers 5,000 scholarship opportunities across multiple academic fields including business, engineering, health, humanities, IT, music, science, agriculture, law, and natural sciences.
Who can apply
International students from around the world are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Candidates are required to maintain a good academic profile and must be both mentally and physically fit. Applicants must also contact the designated sending partner in their home country.
What you get
The scholarship provides comprehensive financial coverage for all participants. Benefits include a 100 percent waiver on tuition fees for Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs, alongside a monthly grant of HUF 43,700. Full accommodation is provided, or alternatively, a monthly allowance of HUF 40,000 to cover housing costs throughout the calendar year if capacity is lacking. Participants also receive comprehensive medical insurance and health plan coverage. Travel expenses to Hungary may be financed through a round-trip air ticket, though it is not a requirement by the issuing authority in the applicant's country.
Requirements
Applicants must submit their necessary application documents through the online application system of the Tempus Public Foundation. Candidates are permitted to select and apply for up to two programs at the University of Debrecen.
How to apply
The application process is conducted entirely online. Interested candidates should review the current Call for Applications, contact their local sending partner, and submit their paperwork via the designated online portal by selecting the University of Debrecen. The selection procedure involves a first step where the sending partner pre-selects applications and submits a nomination list to the Tempus Public Foundation. During the second step, the Tempus Public Foundation forwards nominated applications to the University of Debrecen, which conducts a formal check and coordinates entrance exams or interviews for eligible candidates before returning results to the foundation.
Key dates
Applications open in November 2026. The application deadline is 15 January 2027.
