Umeå University Scholarships In Sweden 2027 (Fully Funded)
Overview
Umeå University offers scholarships for international students pursuing Bachelor and Master degrees during the autumn semester. These awards are designed for academically talented and high-achieving students to help reduce financial pressure while studying in Sweden. Various options are available, including general university scholarships, specific design scholarships funded by a donation from Umeå kommun, and Swedish Institute programs such as the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals and the Pioneering Women in STEM initiative.
Who can apply
General and design scholarships are open to international students who have applied for programmes at Umeå University. The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM is directed toward women from ten designated countries who apply for one of nine eligible Umeå University Master programmes. The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is open to global talent aiming to build lasting partnerships.
What you get
General university scholarships and design scholarships are provided in the form of tuition waivers, granting selected candidates either a full or partial waiver of the tuition fee. The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM and the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals both cover the full tuition fee for the programme, provide a monthly stipend of SEK 12,000, and include a one-time travel grant payment of SEK 15,000.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Umeå University programme listed as priority 1 on University Admissions and pay the application fee. Selection for general scholarships is handled by a faculty committee based on academic merit and relevant information shared in the registration form. Selection for design scholarships is similarly based on academic merit via a committee within the Faculty of Science and Technology. Application and selection processes for Swedish Institute scholarships are managed directly by the Swedish Institute. Students relocating to Sweden should also review student residence permit and health insurance requirements.
