Overview

The TU Delft Justus and Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarships 2027 fund international students on two-year Master's programmes at TU Delft in the Netherlands. The programmes are taught in English and cover all fields. The scholarship comes from the legacy of Justus and Louise van Effen and reflects Mr. van Effen's belief that technological innovation could help solve pressing social problems.

What you get

The scholarship pays 30,000 euros per year for students from outside the EU and EFTA and 11,500 euros per year for EU and EFTA students. It also covers full tuition fees for a TU Delft Master's programme and contributes to living expenses. Scholars join a scholarship club with personal development activities, workshops and seminars.

Who can apply

Applicants must be excellent international candidates who are admitted, at least conditionally, to a two-year regular TU Delft MSc programme, excluding Joint Education Programmes. They need a cumulative GPA of at least 80 percent of the scale maximum and a Bachelor's degree from an internationally renowned university outside the Netherlands. A complete MSc application must be submitted before the scholarship deadline, and English proficiency is required. Fields include aerospace, architecture and the built environment, biotechnology and life science, chemical and process engineering, civil and coastal engineering, earth resources, electrical engineering, energy, environment, industrial design engineering, information technology, maritime, materials, mathematics, mechanical engineering, medical and biomedical engineering, physics, teacher training and science communication, technology policy and management, and transport and logistics.

How to apply

Applicants complete the MSc application, upload the scholarship application form and two reference letters as a single PDF, and upload the English language certificate where required for non-EU and EFTA students. Documents include a motivation letter, official transcripts in the original language, a CV and portfolio, proof of identity and GRE results where applicable.

Key dates

The deadline is 1 December 2026.
