Overview

The Karolinska Institutet (KI) Global Master's Scholarships support international students starting one of KI's Global Master's Programmes in Sweden. No application fee is required. The scholarship is open to selected EU and non-EU students, with up to 10 awards annually across all programs, and around 1,500 international applicants compete each year.

What you get

The scholarship covers tuition only, or part of the tuition for programs only partly offered by KI. Travel, living and other costs must be covered from other funds, and the award can only be used for a Global Master's Program at KI.

The KI-DIS Fellowship is a separate co-funded, merit-based fellowship covering up to 200,000 SEK in tuition fees for two semesters, which means a one-year Master's or the first year of a two-year Master's, at any of KI's nine Global Master's Programmes. It is available annually to an alumnus of DIS who studied in Stockholm or Copenhagen.

Who can apply

Applicants must be tuition fee-paying students throughout their studies, must have applied for a Master's programme at KI and must have ranked a KI programme as their first choice. Those who rank KI first remain eligible if they are admitted to a lower-ranked KI option.

Selection is based on an overall evaluation of the curriculum and qualifications submitted through the national admissions service, in relation to the Global KI Master's program applied for. Only admitted students are considered in the final selection.

How to apply

Applicants first apply for one of KI's global Master's programmes through the national university admissions service, ranking a KI programme first. The scholarship application is a separate process made directly to KI during the scholarship application period. Results are published online at the end of April 2027, and recipients are also notified by email. Awardees must accept the offer by filling out the acceptance form in the notification email.

Key dates

The scholarship application period runs from 8 to 24 February 2027. Results are published on 26 April 2027, and the deadline to accept an offer is 30 April 2027.
