PhD Studentship: R2T2-Med: Resource-Aware AI for Scalable and Deployable Medical Image Analysis
Overview
This studentship focuses on developing resource-aware artificial intelligence frameworks for 2D and 3D medical image analysis to address the challenges of large data volumes and high computing requirements in healthcare settings. The project aims to create an adaptive framework that adjusts its computational demands based on case complexity, clinical risk, and available hardware. Research activities will investigate methods to reduce unnecessary computation without losing clinical details, build flexible model families configurable for different resource budgets, and incorporate safety assessments across various anatomies and patient groups. Validation will occur through population-scale abdominal MRI analysis using UK Biobank and near-patient dermatology imaging.
