PhD Studentship: Geometric and combinatorial inverse monoid theory
Overview
This full-time PhD studentship focuses on combinatorial algebra, specifically geometric and combinatorial inverse monoid theory. Based at the University of East Anglia within the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics, the project investigates inverse monoids, which correspond to partial bijections and provide a framework for studying partial symmetries. The main aim is to build new theory and apply it to prove results about finitely presented inverse monoids, drawing on recent research involving Cayley graphs, Schutzenberger graphs, associated groups, and the action of inverse monoids on directed metric spaces.
