PhD Studentship: Editing the Alzheimer’s Epigenome: From Human Brain Variation to Functional Mechanisms
Overview
This PhD studentship focuses on editing the Alzheimer’s disease epigenome, moving from human brain variation to functional mechanisms. Alzheimer’s disease involves distinctive molecular changes across various brain cell types. Although epigenome-wide association studies have identified widespread alterations in epigenetic modifications related to the pathology, determining which changes have functional consequences for gene regulation and disease biology remains a challenge. The student will integrate cell-type-specific DNA methylation, ATAC-seq, and H3K27ac data to identify and prioritise candidate regulatory loci. Selected regulatory loci will then be functionally interrogated using targeted CRISPR epigenome editing, and the molecular and cellular consequences of these perturbations will be determined.
What you get
The studentship funding provides Home tuition fees and a Doctoral Stipend for up to four years.
