MINARET Doctoral Network 2027: 15 Fully Funded PhD Positions in Europe with MSCA Funding
Overview
The MINARET Doctoral Network offers 15 fully funded PhD positions supported by the European Union Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks programme. Formally titled A Sociology of Post-Imperial Islamic Legal Cultures: Insights from Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, the initiative brings together 11 leading European universities. The programme focuses on the sociology of post-imperial Islamic legal cultures, constitutional transformation, governance, and the intersection of religion and law. The academic programme is scheduled to begin in September 2027.
Who can apply
Graduates interested in disciplines such as Islamic studies, law, political science, sociology, anthropology, governance, constitutionalism, and development studies are encouraged to apply for the available positions.

Successful candidates undertake doctoral research at one of the participating European universities while participating in international academic collaboration, joint supervision, interdisciplinary training, fieldwork opportunities, and professional development. The programme incorporates academic and non-academic secondments designed to provide practical experience outside traditional university research environments.
