Overview

Maastricht University, a public university in the Netherlands, is accepting scholarship applications for the 2027 intake from students outside the EU/EEA. The awards support international students on Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, and are described as fully funded. Admission to a participating program must be secured before a scholarship application is made.

Three options exist: the Maastricht University NL-High Potential Scholarship and the UM Brightlands Talent Scholarship, both for Master's students, and the UM Global Studies Scholarship for the Bachelor's in Global Studies. Each scholarship is tied to its own list of eligible programs.

What you get

The Master's scholarships pay for living expenses such as food, housing and transport, health and liability insurance, visa application fees, tuition fees and pre-academic training costs, which may help students who need extra language or academic preparation before they begin.

The funding period is 13 months for a one-year Master's, 25 months for a two-year Master's and 36 months for a Bachelor's degree.

Who can apply

Applicants must hold the nationality of a country outside the EU/EEA, with no dual EU/EEA nationality. They must apply for admission to a participating degree program, meet its admission requirements and satisfy the scholarship criteria.

How to apply

The first step is to register for a participating program through Studielink, following the instructions on the program page, which produces a student ID number for the university. Next, applicants sign in with their university account and fill in the scholarship application form, which is the only accepted route. The upload list includes a CV, a letter of motivation, proof of academic excellence, a personal statement of financial needs and a reference letter.

Key dates

The application deadline is 1st February 2027.
