Overview

The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) 2027, also known as the Korean Government Scholarship Program, is sponsored by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) of the Korean Government. It offers 1,276 fully funded places to students from more than 153 countries for undergraduate, Master's, doctoral and research programmes at universities in South Korea, including Seoul National University, KAIST, Yonsei University, Korea University and POSTECH. The programme aims to promote global education and cross-cultural exchange between South Korea and other nations.

What you get

Scholars receive full tuition, a monthly living allowance of KRW 900,000, round-trip economy airfare, a one-time settling-in grant of KRW 200,000, and health insurance. Non-native Korean speakers take one year of intensive Korean language training before their academic programme begins. Research support covers research projects, academic activities and thesis printing costs.

Who can apply

Applicants and both of their parents must not hold Korean citizenship, and dual citizens who also hold Korean nationality are not eligible. Study areas cover engineering and technology, natural sciences and mathematics, liberal arts and social sciences, business and economics, entertainment, culture and sports, medical and health sciences, nursing and allied health, and virtually all other major disciplines.
