Overview

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia invites applications for its thesis-based Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programmes for the 2027 academic intake. Managed through the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies in Dhahran, the initiative offers postgraduate education opportunities to academically distinguished international candidates. The university aims to attract students with strong qualifications, high grade-point averages, and solid research potential for full-time study in science, engineering, and interdisciplinary fields.

Who can apply

The scholarship is open to international applicants who hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline from a recognised institution. Applicants to thesis-based Master’s programmes and direct-entry PhD programmes must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or an equivalent qualification. Candidates are also required to demonstrate English language proficiency by meeting specific minimum scores on recognised tests, which include a TOEFL score of 520 on the paper-based test, 190 on the computer-based test, or 70 on the internet-based test; an IELTS score of 6.0; or a Duolingo English Test score of 105.

What you get

Qualifying admitted students receive a fully funded scholarship package that includes a full tuition fee exemption and a monthly financial allowance based on the applicable scholarship category. The package provides free furnished and air-conditioned on-campus accommodation with utilities and maintenance included, as well as medical and dental care. Additional benefits comprise air tickets for international students to and from the university, subsidised meals, free textbooks, and access to library resources. Recipients also gain opportunities to participate in research projects, secure additional financial support through research work, and receive funding for academic conferences subject to university conditions. For direct-entry PhD students, the full scholarship covers the first four years of the five-year programme.

Key dates

Applications for the Master of Science thesis-based and PhD programmes opened on 1 November 2026 and close on 15 December 2026.
