Overview

The KAIST Scholarship 2027 is part of the Global Korea Scholarship programme, the Korean government's flagship scholarship for international students. It funds Master's and doctoral study at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon, which was established in 1971 as South Korea's first dedicated science and engineering research institution.

What you get

The scholarship covers round-trip economy airfare, a one-time resettlement grant, a monthly subsistence allowance, full tuition, health insurance, Korean language courses and research support. It also includes a lump sum for dissertation printing, a prize for excellent Korean language command and a completion grant on graduation.

Who can apply

Applicants and their parents must not hold Korean citizenship. Applicants must be under 40 when the programme begins and hold or expect a Bachelor's degree for Master's study or a Master's degree for doctoral study, with an expected graduation certificate if they have not yet graduated. English proficiency can be shown with a letter from the previous institution instead of IELTS or TOEFL scores. Fields include physics, mathematical sciences, chemistry, biological sciences, mechanical, aerospace, electrical, civil and environmental, chemical and biomolecular, materials, nuclear and quantum engineering, computer science, bio and brain engineering, industrial design, industrial and systems engineering, business and technology management, and interdisciplinary programmes.

How to apply

Graduate applications must be submitted in hard copy, as there is no fully online registration system for this track. Applicants choose one of two routes, either through a Korean embassy or directly to the university, and cannot use both at the same time.
