Overview

The INPEX Scholarship 2027 is a fully funded Master's scholarship that sends graduates to Japanese universities. The INPEX Scholarship Foundation was established in 1981 to strengthen ties between Japan and partner countries and now accepts applicants from Indonesia, Australia and the United Arab Emirates, with outbound awards for Japanese citizens.

What you get

Selected scholars receive round-trip airfare from their home country to Japan, full tuition including admission and entrance exam fees, and a monthly stipend of ¥160,000 for Indonesian, Australian and UAE recipients. Commuter pass expenses and a preparatory and settlement allowance on arrival are also included. The scholarship lasts up to 2 years and 8 months, depending on the programme. Japanese recipients going abroad receive a monthly stipend of ¥150,000 and international airfare provisions.

Two newer programmes have been introduced: an Exchange Student Scholarship Program for overseas undergraduates to study at Japanese universities, and the ISF International Exchange Program, which offers high school exchange visits for students from Indonesia, Australia and the UAE.

Who can apply

Indonesian applicants must be citizens under 30 with a Natural Sciences degree from an Indonesian university and a GPA of at least 3.00. Australian applicants must be citizens who graduated from a major Australian university in Social Sciences, Humanities or Natural Sciences with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.0 (or 5.25 out of 7.0). All three groups need a Letter of Acceptance from a Japanese graduate school or professor.
