Overview

The Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence is a French Government scholarship for international students pursuing Master's and PhD degrees in France. It is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and up to 500 scholarships are awarded. Recipients can study at public or private institutions, and the programme covers many academic fields, with study taking place in Paris and other French cities.

Who can apply

Only international students are eligible. Master's applicants must be no older than 30 and PhD applicants no older than 35. Admission is possible at many universities without an IELTS or TOEFL result.

The programme covers fields such as engineering sciences, exact sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, nano- and biotechnology, earth sciences, sciences of the universe, environmental sciences, information and communication technology, economics and management, and law and political science.

What you get

Master's students receive a monthly stipend of EUR 1,031 for living expenses and an additional grant of EUR 150 per month. They also receive a round-trip international flight, cultural activities and a housing allowance. PhD students receive a monthly stipend of EUR 1,400.

Funding lasts up to 12 months for the first Master's year (M1), up to 24 months for the second Master's year (M2), and up to 36 months for the PhD.

How to apply

Applicants cannot apply on their own. They first contact Campus France in their home country, or the Cooperation and Cultural Action Department of the French Embassy, for guidance. They then identify a French educational institution that fits their study goals and speak with its international relations department about procedures and deadlines. The institution endorses the candidate's application and submits it online through the Campus France platform.

Key dates

The deadline is January 8, 2027.
