Finland Government Scholarship 2027 (Fully Funded)
Overview
The Finland Government Scholarship 2027 supports international students pursuing Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees at Finnish universities. All programmes are taught in English and no application fee is charged at any stage. There is no separate scholarship form: a student's admission application is automatically considered for any available scholarship funding.
Finland uses a centralised admissions system, so applicants select programmes from several institutions and apply through one online portal, with up to 6 programmes in a single application. There is no need to contact professors or department heads individually. Finland has 13 universities and 22 universities of applied sciences offering more than 400 study programmes, and over 20,000 international students currently study there.
What you get
Support differs between institutions, ranging from partial tuition exemptions to full tuition coverage plus monthly living support. The exact type and value of the scholarship should be confirmed with the chosen university and programme.
Who can apply
Eligibility depends on the degree level and the institution, so requirements for Bachelor's and Master's scholarships and any additional criteria are set by each university's admissions page.
Universities of applied sciences cover agriculture, forestry, fisheries and veterinary studies, arts, business, administration and law, education, engineering, manufacturing and construction, health and welfare, humanities, information and communication technologies, services such as hospitality management and logistics, and social sciences, journalism and information. Universities cover business, administration and law, engineering, health and welfare, ICT, medicine, natural sciences, mathematics and statistics, and services such as military science and sport science.
How to apply
The main route is the national joint application portal. Applications for programmes starting in autumn (September) open each year from 8 to 22 January. A limited number of programmes also offer a January start, with a separate joint application period usually from 28 August to 11 September and fewer programmes available.
Some programmes use separate applications outside the joint window, typically between late November or early December and late January for autumn starts, and some universities admit on a rolling basis. Applicants should search for programmes, check each one's application period, admission requirements and scholarship details, complete the single online form and submit all required documents before the published deadline.
