Overview

The Erasmus Mundus ILSPSD Scholarship 2027 is a fully funded two-year joint Master’s degree program focused on the International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development. Funded by the European Union and delivered by a consortium of six universities across Europe, the curriculum integrates international law, human rights, global governance, international security, peace, and sustainable development. Students complete a structured multi-country mobility scheme studying at Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany, Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals in Spain, and selecting third-semester specialization options at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom, Université libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa in Portugal, or the University of Tartu in Estonia.

Who can apply

This opportunity is open to international students of any nationality without geographic restriction. Candidates must hold a recognized Bachelor’s degree comprising a minimum of 180 ECTS credits or an equivalent qualification in fields such as law, international relations, political science, human rights, global governance, or a closely related interdisciplinary area. Applicants must also meet specific prerequisites required by their chosen third-semester track universities, which may include legal credit thresholds or language competencies. Official proof of English proficiency is mandatory for all applicants, while French proficiency is required specifically for those selecting the Université libre de Bruxelles track.

What you get

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial coverage for the entire two-year duration of the joint Master’s program. Benefits include a 100 percent tuition fee exemption covering all enrollment, registration, and academic fees across all host institutions, alongside a monthly living allowance of €1,400 for 24 months totaling €33,600. Recipients also receive financial contributions toward international travel and relocation between partner universities, a direct installation allowance for initial settlement expenses in Europe, coverage for residence permits, EU national entry visas, and administrative processing, as well as comprehensive international medical insurance complying with Erasmus+ standards.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a digital application portfolio in English containing an official undergraduate degree certificate or expected graduation confirmation, complete academic transcripts with ECTS conversions or workload calculations for non-EU degrees, and a high school leaving certificate or university entrance qualification. Additional required documents include a personal statement of up to 1,000 words detailing academic trajectory, career ambitions, research interests, preferred mobility track, and motivation; an up-to-date curriculum vitae; two academic recommendation letters on official letterhead from academic referees or professional supervisors; official language proficiency test certificates; and a clear color scan of a valid passport personal details page.

How to apply

Candidates must first review the curriculum offerings of the six partner universities to select their preferred choices for the third-semester specialization track and assemble their complete document portfolio. Applications are submitted digitally through the central online application portal with no application fee required. Submitting a single application simultaneously evaluates candidates for admission and for the full Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
