EPFL Master Excellence Scholarship in Switzerland 2027 (Funded)
Overview
The EPFL Master Excellence Fellowship 2027 is a merit-based award at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland, a leading university for engineering and applied sciences. It is financed by EPFL together with private foundations and industry partners, and goes to a limited number of the most academically deserving Master's candidates.
What you get
Fellows receive CHF 10,000 per semester for a maximum of four semesters, or three semesters for a 90-credit Master's, as long as they keep regular EPFL student registration. No extensions are possible, even if a student adds a minor. A student room in a residence is reserved for external students, and a Certificate of Excellence is awarded on completing the Master's. The fellowship is a contribution to costs and not a full scholarship, so fellows cover tuition fees, rent and other expenses themselves.
Separately, EPFL has launched the EPFLglobaLeaders Doctoral Fellowship Program, which supports 48 doctoral fellows through multidisciplinary training with a secondment in the non-academic sector, preparing them for careers in academia, industry and global policy in sustainability and innovation.
Who can apply
Anyone applying to an EPFL Master's programme can apply, with selection based mainly on academic records and prior performance. The fellowship cannot be combined with other substantial scholarships, so all scholarships received during the Master's must be declared. Applicants for whom the EPFL Master's would be a second Master's degree are not eligible.
How to apply
The application includes a curriculum vitae, a motivation letter setting out academic goals and reasons for applying to EPFL, two letters of recommendation from professors who know the applicant's work, and a transcript of all grades earned at EPFL. Applicants should read the official EPFL fellowship guidelines before preparing their materials.
