Chonnam National University Scholarships 2027 in South Korea (Fully Funded)
Overview
Chonnam National University (CNU) in Gwangju, South Korea, offers scholarships to international applicants for its Spring 2027 graduate intake. Awards give full or partial tuition waivers for selected Master's, PhD and integrated programs. The categories are the Global Top-Tier Scholarship, Global Scholarship, TOPIK Scholarship, SRS/BK SRS and Academic Excellence Scholarship. Some require professor support or particular language and test qualifications.
What you get
Admission scholarships apply to first-semester tuition. Support in later semesters, and any monthly living stipend, depends on department allocations, academic performance, or research or teaching assistantship funding from a CNU host professor. A universal monthly allowance is not guaranteed.
Who can apply
Master's and integrated program applicants need a recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or must expect to receive it before the semester starts. PhD applicants need a Master's degree or equivalent. Both the applicant and their parents must hold non-Korean citizenship.
Requirements
Applicants must show language proficiency through a test taken within the past two years: IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 59, TOEIC 700, NEW TEPS 202 or CEFR B2, or a TOPIK result. Citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa are exempt from English proof. Some majors set higher cut-offs, such as IELTS 6.0 for Business Administration, and Nursing requires professional licensure.
Documents include the online application printout, degree certificates, official transcripts, a personal statement and study plan on CNU forms, language score reports, passport copies for the applicant and parents with family relationship certificates, and the professor support form where relevant. Proof of funds equal to KRW 16,000,000 is required, through a bank balance certificate, a professor's financial support letter, or an external scholarship guarantee.
How to apply
Applicants pick one department and major from the Spring 2027 graduate guide, contact a relevant professor with their CV and transcripts, then complete the online application and pay the KRW 70,000 processing fee. Original documents are then posted to the university's Office of International Affairs.
