Overview

Chevening Scholarships for 2027-2028 fund a one-year master's degree at a UK university. They are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, and are meant for professionals and emerging leaders who show leadership potential and a commitment to positive change in their home countries. Scholars join a global alumni community of more than 60,000 people. Selection emphasizes leadership, influence, networking and career plans more than grades alone.

What you get

The standard award covers eligible tuition fees, a monthly living allowance (higher in the London area), economy travel to and from the UK, arrival and departure allowances, the cost of one visa application, up to 75 pounds toward TB testing where required, a travel top-up for approved Chevening activities, and access to Chevening networking and professional events.

Who can apply

Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory and commit to returning home for at least two years after the award. They need an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for a UK master's course, completed at least two years before the deadline, plus at least 2,800 hours of work experience gained after that degree. They must apply to three eligible UK master's courses and secure an unconditional offer from at least one by the offer deadline. Those who finished their undergraduate degree after October 2024 will generally lack enough experience to qualify. Country-specific rules may apply.

How to apply

Applicants give examples of leadership and influence, show they can build professional relationships, set out a realistic career plan and explain why their chosen UK courses are needed for it.
