Overview

The Carleton University Prestige Scholarships 2027-2028 are the university's highest undergraduate entrance awards, given for exceptional academic performance, leadership potential and community involvement. They are held over four years of study in Ottawa, Canada, and are worth between CAD 20,000 and CAD 32,000 or full domestic tuition. They apply across first-year undergraduate programmes, including engineering and computer science, business, public affairs and journalism, sciences and health sciences, and architecture and design.

What you get

The Chancellor's Scholarships are worth CAD 32,000 in total, at $8,000 per year over 4 years, for 10 top incoming students. Richard Lewar Entrance Scholarships total CAD 21,500, with $6,500 in Year 1 and $5,000 per year in Years 2 to 4, for 7 students. Carleton University Scholarships of Excellence total CAD 20,000 at $5,000 per year for 3 top students, and the Carleton University SHAD Scholarships offer the same amount to 2 incoming SHAD alumni. The Jay Woo and CAA Scholarship is also CAD 20,000. The Riordon Scholarship and the Collins Prestige Scholarship cover 100 percent of full domestic tuition for 4 consecutive years.

International recipients of the Riordon and Collins awards remain responsible for the difference between domestic and international tuition, plus living expenses, books, compulsory health insurance (UHIP) and housing.

Who can apply

Candidates must enter Carleton directly from secondary school or CEGEP, so anyone who previously attended a university or college is ineligible. They need an admission average of at least 90 percent, a record of outstanding leadership, community service or participation in school activities, and must meet Carleton's English proficiency requirements.

Prestige Scholarships renew for up to 4 years if the student completes at least 4.0 academic credits in the fall and winter sessions, keeps an annual cumulative GPA of 10.0 or higher (an A- average on the 12-point scale), and receives no failing or incomplete grades.

How to apply

Application is separate from admission. Applicants first apply for admission to an undergraduate programme, through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre or Carleton's portal, to receive their 7-digit Carleton Student ID Number. They then download and complete the Prestige Scholarship Application Form electronically and obtain a signed reference letter from a teacher, principal or community leader. The completed form and letter are emailed to the awards office with the student ID in the subject line and document.
