Australia Government ARC Future Fellowships 2027 (Fully Funded)
Overview
The Australian Government's Future Fellowships 2027 (GO7921), administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC), fund mid-career researchers to carry out high-impact research at Australian universities and research organisations. The scheme covers STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and HASS fields (humanities, arts, social sciences), and projects should be innovative and aligned with national research priorities.
What you get
Fellows receive four years of funding of between AUD $766,904 and $1,329,808, extendable to eight years if held part-time. The money covers research project costs, research team support, salary and institutional contributions, and equipment and travel allowances under ARC guidelines. The funding is intended to help researchers build teams, collaborate internationally and mentor the next generation of academics.
Who can apply
Both domestic and international researchers can apply, but only through an eligible Australian university or research organisation listed in the ARC grant guidelines. Applicants must hold a PhD awarded between 1 March 2011 and 1 March 2021, or a PhD outside that range with allowable career interruptions. They should be mid-career researchers with a strong record of research excellence, leadership and mentorship, and collaboration and publication impact. People who already have three previous nominations, including withdrawn or ineligible applications, are not eligible.
How to apply
Applicants confirm eligibility against the grant guidelines and prepare a detailed research plan covering innovation, feasibility, methodology and potential impact. The application is submitted through the Research Office of the host institution using the ARC Research Management System, with all documents meeting ARC requirements.
Key dates
The application deadline is 8 October 2026.
