YLabs Operations Specialist 2026: Apply for a Remote Africa-Based People Operations Job Paying Up to $26,000 Per Year
Overview
YLabs is seeking an Operations Specialist to join its People Operations function on a full-time, remote basis. This position can be performed from anywhere in Africa. The role involves managing the practical systems that support a globally distributed workforce across multiple countries, functions, projects, and cultural contexts. The successful candidate will work in a hands-on capacity to maintain existing systems while also identifying gaps, diagnosing problems, and building scalable operational processes.
Who can apply
This position is particularly suitable for mid-career professionals with experience in operations, human resources, recruitment, administration, employee experience, or people operations. Typical backgrounds include Operations Specialists, Senior Operations Associates, People Operations professionals, HR Operations professionals, and administrative or organizational operations specialists. Applicants are not required to have previous experience leading an entire People Operations function, but must be able to learn quickly, take ownership, build trust, exercise sound judgment, improve systems, execute reliably, and complete assignments independently.
What you get
The position offers an annual salary range of USD $17,000 to $26,000, depending on experience, benchmarked for a mid-level P3 position in YLabs Africa. Salaries for full-time employees are paid in the local currency of the employee’s permanent work location.
Requirements
The role covers a wide range of responsibilities across day-to-day people operations, recruitment processes, and organizational development. Day-to-day duties involve managing employee onboarding and offboarding, staff requests, benefits administration, personnel records, internal administrative support, and general people operations requirements. Recruitment responsibilities include managing recruitment execution for individual-contributor and coordinator-level vacancies through candidate sourcing, initial screening, interview coordination, candidate communications, administration, offer logistics, and hiring timelines. Additionally, the Operations Specialist is expected to actively build systems to help YLabs scale by developing onboarding procedures, improving equipment management and HRIS practices, simplifying staff requests, establishing new workflows, improving documentation, and standardizing recurring operations. Candidates must be comfortable working independently with a strong sense of personal accountability to identify problems, determine necessary actions, make appropriate decisions, and follow initiatives through to completion without requiring detailed instructions for every assignment.
