Overview

WoMin is inviting applications for the position of Women Building Power for Climate Justice Lead. This role provides strategic leadership for the organisation's Women’s Climate Justice programme. The position offers an opportunity for an experienced African feminist and climate justice advocate to direct women-centred organising, movement building, research, advocacy, and campaigning across West Africa.

Who can apply

The position is specifically intended for a Francophone African woman based in West Africa. Applicants should hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, though relevant professional experience may also be considered. Candidates must have eight to ten years of relevant experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, including at least five years in programme or project development, management, and coordination. Essential qualifications include experience supporting people's organising and women's movement building, a strong commitment to feminist principles and women's rights, and experience in campaigning, advocacy, networking, and alliance building at a sub-regional or Pan-African level.

Requirements

Applicants are required to demonstrate a strong political and analytical understanding of power, inequality, and intersecting forms of exclusion. Valuable competencies include experience in report writing, proposal development, participatory research, facilitation, and popular education. Candidates must also possess strong leadership, people management, strategic planning, communication, partnership-building, and stakeholder engagement abilities, alongside experience in donor relations, grant management, and financial management. The ideal candidate exhibits a participatory, democratic, and inclusive leadership style paired with the capacity to make decisions when necessary. Personal attributes required include integrity, accountability, reliability, respect for confidentiality, and the ability to work independently under pressure, alongside a firm commitment to women's rights, social justice, equity, and WoMin's organisational values.

Key dates

Interested candidates must submit their applications by Sunday, 25 October 2026. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract, subject to funding and performance.
