Overview

The United Nations Children’s Fund is seeking a consultant for a Senior Expert role focused on corporate risk and benchmarking within its Evaluation Office. This assignment is part of a global evaluation that examines how the organization manages risks during humanitarian emergencies, specifically investigating how risk governance frameworks influence decision-making and the delivery of essential services to children in hard-to-reach areas.

The consultancy lasts for approximately 9.4 months and follows a home-based, remote working arrangement with a duty station listed as New York, United States. Qualified international professionals are invited to apply.

Who can apply

This position is open to international applicants who hold a master's degree in economics, organizational management, or audit. Candidates must possess at least 10 years of professional experience in enterprise risk management, internal control, or auditing, alongside a minimum of five years of experience working with a United Nations agency, International Financial Institution, or large humanitarian organization.

Applicants are required to have detailed knowledge of ISO 31000 and COSO Enterprise Risk Management, an understanding of the Three Lines Model and risk appetite frameworks, and experience analyzing risk registers, internal controls, and assurance data. Additional qualifications include direct experience with HACT or similar partner assurance systems, experience comparing risk management frameworks across organizations, previous involvement in humanitarian evaluations, and excellent English communication, analytical, and writing skills. Knowledge of additional United nations languages and experience facilitating workshops with senior management are considered advantages.

What you get

The role provides a remote, home-based working arrangement for an approximate duration of 9.4 months. Consultants gain international exposure by collaborating with global evaluation and humanitarian teams, engaging with institutions within and outside the United Nations system, and contributing to institutional risk management and global evaluation practices. Fixed salary or monthly remuneration figures are not published; instead, candidates must submit a separate financial proposal using the official template.

Requirements

Applicants must submit an updated UNICEF Talent Management System profile, an up-to-date curriculum vitae, a professional cover letter, and a separate financial proposal prepared in accordance with the official financial proposal template and Terms of Reference.

How to apply

Interested professionals must submit their application documents through the official UNICEF recruitment portal.
