Overview

UNICEF's Division of Global Communication and Advocacy is seeking a Digital Communication Officer (U-Report Data Officer) at the P-2 level. It is a six-month temporary appointment covering parental leave, with remote or home-based and flexible working arrangements across time zones. The official duty station is Valencia, Spain.

The post sits in the Youth Engagement Team and centers on U-Report, UNICEF's flagship digital platform where young people worldwide take part in polls, digital campaigns and community advocacy. The officer provides the analytics, monitoring and data visualization needed to turn youth responses into policy insights.

What the role involves

The officer tracks and reports on global U-Report growth, engagement and performance indicators, and helps design and configure RapidPro flows for polls, chatbots and campaigns with monitoring and evaluation built in from the start. They analyze poll results, chatbot interactions and messaging data to extract insights on audience behavior and youth trends for programme teams and partners.

They also turn raw messaging data into dashboards and monthly and annual performance reports across U-Report websites, apps and social platforms, and support regional and country offices in strengthening their M&E so they can use polling data in local advocacy.

Requirements

Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent in fields such as communications, digital marketing, journalism, public relations, computer science, data science, statistics or information technology. At least two years of professional experience is required in areas such as data analytics, digital and social media analytics, M&E with data visualization, and mobile technology or digital youth engagement.

Hands-on RapidPro proficiency is mandatory, as is proficiency in R or Stata. Fluent English is required; another UN official language is an asset. Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, SEO, the Facebook Marketing API or Google Ads, and field experience in fragile or humanitarian settings, are advantages.

How to apply

Applications go through the UNICEF careers portal under Job No. 594960, using a P11 form or CV, and close on 20 August 2026.
