UNICEF is recruiting an Executive Specialist at the P-3 level for its country office in Dhaka, Bangladesh (job number 595017). The post is a 364-day temporary appointment within Executive Management at UNICEF Bangladesh, reporting directly to the UNICEF Representative.
UNICEF has worked in Bangladesh since 1952 alongside the government on health, nutrition, education, child protection, WASH, climate resilience and social policy. The country is home to nearly 60 million children, and the office also supports Rohingya refugee communities. UNICEF Bangladesh is currently developing its Country Programme Document for 2028 to 2032.
What the role involves
The specialist supports the coordinated management, strategic planning and operational oversight of the Country Office. This includes coordinating and monitoring actions and recommendations from management bodies such as the UNCT, SMT, CMT and JCC, helping resolve critical issues referred to the Representative and Front Office, and setting up communication and information exchange between sections, field offices, external partners and government.
The role also involves keeping the Representative informed on political, social and economic trends, preparing briefing notes, policy documents and advocacy strategies for high-level engagement with government, the private sector and international partners, and supporting internal operating guidelines. The specialist promotes organizational culture and process improvement and liaises with the Asia Pacific Regional Office and Centres of Excellence on non-routine matters.
Requirements
Applicants need a master's degree or equivalent in international relations, political science, public administration or a related field, and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in external relations, public affairs or international development cooperation, preferably in the UN system, government or international NGOs. Experience advising senior leadership, preparing briefing materials and coordinating executive offices is expected. English is required, and another UN language or a local language is an asset. Mobility is a condition of international professional employment with UNICEF.
