What the role involves
The specialist leads communication campaigns, advocacy and partnership development to advance the Alliance's Strategy 2030, focusing mainly on East and West Africa while supporting Arabic-speaking countries such as Jordan and Sudan.
Communications work includes drafting speeches, talking points and opinion pieces for senior leaders and coordinating flagship publications, knowledge products and multimedia campaigns. In advocacy, the specialist turns implementation evidence into policy dialogue across platforms including the G20, the G7 Partnership, Digital Public Infrastructure initiatives and the African Continental Free Trade Area, writes policy briefs and organizes international policy dialogues and events. Partnership work means strengthening ties with Alliance members, development finance institutions, philanthropies and private-sector actors. The specialist also captures local implementation evidence and lessons learned for regional priority programmes and packages them into global knowledge products.
Requirements
Applicants need a master's degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public policy, development studies, political science or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, advocacy, partnerships or stakeholder engagement in international development. A bachelor's degree with seven years of experience is also accepted. Candidates should have run strategic communication campaigns and built partnerships with governments, donors and the private sector. Full professional fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
