Overview

United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is recruiting a Learning Assistant on a full-time National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA-5) in Istanbul, Türkiye. The post supports the Capacity Development Team in the Human Resources Section, which designs and delivers professional learning for UN Volunteers serving around the world, including onboarding, continuous learning, digital education and career development.

The assistant works under the guidance of the Learning Specialist, coordinating online and face-to-face learning activities. The vacancy is a locally recruited position restricted to citizens of Türkiye and open only to eligible recruitment tiers.

What the role involves

The assistant helps plan and coordinate workshops, webinars and training sessions and supports flagship UNV learning initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include handling participant registration, scheduling, invitations and attendance records, preparing learning materials, facilitator guides and training documents, and giving technical support during virtual and in-person events.

The role also covers Learning Management System work such as learner enrolment and user assistance, maintaining online learning resources and course pages, gathering participant feedback and preparing routine learning reports. The assistant supports procurement, contracts, invoices and financial paperwork linked to learning activities, and keeps trackers and records for the team.

Requirements

Applicants need a high school certificate, with a bachelor's degree an advantage. They must have at least five years of relevant experience with secondary education, or two years with a university degree. Relevant experience includes learning support, training coordination, capacity development, administrative services and digital learning platforms.

Experience with Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools, Learning Management Systems, procurement processes, or UN systems such as SharePoint or Quantum is beneficial. Fluency in both English and French is required, and knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
