Overview

UN Tourism maintains an ongoing roster of administrative professionals to support its headquarters in Madrid. Selected candidates are placed into various departments to perform standard and specialized administrative duties, which include managing premises, contracted services, office supplies, and procurement, as well as advising on service contracting and insurance. Personnel may also analyze administrative needs in travel, transport, supply, and communications, compile performance data, organize reporting systems, supervise general services, and process requests. Specific daily tasks vary by department. The roster includes the titles of Senior Administrative Services Specialist, Administrative Services Associate, and Administrative Associate. There is no closing date for applications, and admission to the roster places candidates in line for future departmental needs, though it does not guarantee a contract.

Who can apply

This opportunity is suitable for administrative professionals who possess the right to work in Spain or already live there, and who have two to five years of experience in office administration, procurement, supplies, or travel services. Candidates must have fluent English, while a good working knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian is considered an asset. A high school diploma is sufficient for the entry level. Applicants are expected to have strong skills in Microsoft Office and Windows 10, excellent communication, planning and organizing abilities, flexibility, tact, and discretion, as well as the capacity to work within an international team. Experience with the United Nations or other international organizations is a strong asset.

What you get

Accepted individuals are placed on a roster for two years. When a department requires staff, rostered candidates are contacted with the terms of reference to confirm their interest, availability, and pay level. Selected appointments can last up to 24 months, with a normal maximum service duration of three years, which may be exceptionally extended to four years. Monthly base pay ranges from EUR 1,400 to EUR 3,000, accompanied by a co-shared health insurance plan and a pension contribution by the organization amounting to 13 percent of monthly pay.

How to apply

Candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the online web-based system. The application process requires completing the online Personal History Form and attaching a CV along with supporting documents. Mailed or emailed applications are not accepted. Applicants should ensure they choose the appropriate assignment type matching their education and experience, fill out every field of the form, and highlight relevant competencies such as Microsoft Office proficiency, procurement or travel experience, and multilingual abilities.
