UK-Med Humanitarian Management Trainee Scheme 2026: Apply for 3 Paid £35,000 Roles in MEAL, Communications and Human Resources
Overview
UK-Med has opened applications for three paid Humanitarian Management Trainee positions for 2026, in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), Communications, and Human Resources and Membership. Each is a full-time, 18-month development traineeship based in the United Kingdom with international deployment opportunities. UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity with roots in the National Health Service, working for more than 30 years to help people affected by disasters, conflicts and outbreaks get healthcare. It describes the traineeship as a development opportunity rather than an established permanent post.
What you get
The starting salary is 35,000 pounds gross per year, rising to 37,300 pounds after 12 months, subject to successful development. Trainees combine practical work in their specialist team with headquarters experience, humanitarian preparedness, international deployments, emergency-response exposure, formal and informal training, mentoring, shadowing and continuing professional development. The goal is to prepare professionals for greater responsibility and leadership in humanitarian organisations.
Who can apply
The scheme is for early-career professionals who already have a technical foundation in one of the three specialisms. For the MEAL role, applicants should have a relevant degree in areas such as public health, humanitarian studies, social sciences, data and analytics, demography or population studies, or equivalent experience. They should have practical experience supporting MEAL systems, preferably in humanitarian aid or development, and knowledge of data collection and analysis, accountability, programme monitoring and evaluation methods. Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint skills are required, while R, SPSS, Stata or Power BI are an advantage. International exposure through work, study, volunteering, relocation or extended travel is essential.
Requirements
The MEAL trainee helps UK-Med understand and communicate its impact, including supporting donor compliance, building monitoring tools with headquarters and field teams, consolidating and analysing data, supporting evaluations, After Action Reviews, data-quality audits and training on MEAL tools, and possibly preparing situation reports during responses. The trainee may deploy to field locations during emergencies.
Key dates
The application deadline is Thursday, 8 October 2026, and early applications are encouraged.
