Traveling Research Associate II: Clinical Research Opportunity at Thermo Fisher Scientific
Overview
Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Traveling Research Associate II for its PPD clinical research portfolio. The full-time post sits in a virtual site operations team that supports clinical trials at multiple research sites, with about 65% to 70% travel to sites in the assigned state and neighboring states and occasional domestic or international trips. PPD supports clinical trials and research services in more than 100 countries.
The associate helps ensure site activities follow protocols, Good Clinical Practice and applicable regulations.
What you do
Depending on qualifications and regulations, the associate may carry out clinic procedures such as vital signs, height and weight, electrocardiograms, screening, urine collection, patient walks and safety monitoring, and phlebotomy, and may explain trial tests and procedures to patients. Under the general supervision of a licensed physician, the role may support sleep studies by applying electrodes and sensors and preparing equipment.
Laboratory duties include sample processing, liaising with laboratories, specimen labeling, freezer logs, clinical supplies and documentation. The associate follows Good Clinical Practice, standard operating procedures, company procedures, local regulations and FDA requirements where applicable, may report quality incidents and take part in corrective actions, and may obtain informed consent where permitted.
Requirements
Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant training, plus experience generally comparable to two or more years. An equivalent combination of education, training and directly related experience may be considered. Useful skills include medical terminology, vital-sign procedures, Good Clinical Practice, strong organization and attention to detail, interpersonal and customer-service skills, written and verbal English, Microsoft Office, basic knowledge of clinical trial database systems and the ability to work independently and with new site staff.
The role involves sitting or standing for about 6 to 8 hours a day, and occasionally lifting or carrying items such as luggage and a laptop weighing about 15 to 20 pounds.
