Technical Demonstrator: Etching and Lithography (Term Time Only)

Overview

Bath Spa University is seeking a Technical Demonstrator to support teaching, learning, and research within its specialist Printmaking facilities. The position focuses on etching, lithography, relief printing, photo-etching, and letterpress. This is a permanent, part-time, on-site role operating on a term-time only contract for 18.5 hours per week across 36 weeks per year, located in the United Kingdom.

The role provides a salary ranging from 34,630 to 38,448 GBP per annum, with a pro rata actual salary starting from 14,065 rising to 15,616 GBP per annum.

Requirements

Applicants must have strong practical knowledge of relief printmaking, letterpress, lithography, etching, and photoetching, alongside proven experience delivering practical technical sessions in these areas. Candidates need experience operating and maintaining specialist printmaking facilities and equipment such as exposure units and presses.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop technical demonstrations, inductions, and practical activities supporting research, teaching, learning, and student engagement. The role requires collaboration within a technical team and clear communication to ensure consistent support. Candidates must also have demonstrable knowledge of workshop and studio Health and Safety requirements, including risk assessments, COSHH, and the safe disposal, storage, and handling of specialist chemicals and materials.
