Overview

Keele University's School of Computer Science and Mathematics, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, is seeking two Teaching Fellows in Computer Science to join its supportive and growing team. The posts are on the Education and Scholarship pathway and aim to contribute to high-quality education across computer science and related specialist areas.

Teaching Fellows will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, support student learning and help develop programmes. Responsibilities include lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, creating learning materials and assessments, giving constructive feedback and supervising student projects. Supporting students is central to the role, through teaching, personal tutoring and academic guidance, helping them build confidence and overcome challenges in a welcoming environment where students from all backgrounds feel included. Fellows will also develop their own teaching through scholarship and collaboration with colleagues.

Requirements

Candidates need strong subject knowledge in computer science and experience of teaching or supporting learning in higher education. Excellent communication and organisational skills, an approachable and patient manner and a collaborative approach are expected, together with enthusiasm for computer science education and a commitment to helping students learn and grow.

What you get

The posts are full time and indefinite at Grade 7, with a salary range of £38,784 to £47,389 and incremental progression. Starting salaries are typically at the bottom of the scale. Working is agile, blending home and office, and job share arrangements would be considered. Benefits include annual increments, generous annual leave with the option to buy more, a staff pension scheme, career development, an on-site nursery rated outstanding, discounted on-site health and fitness facilities and a cycle to work scheme. Keele has more than 15,000 students and about 2,000 staff and is committed to the Athena Swan Charter.

How to apply

Full post details and the application are available through the university's recruitment pages. Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Chris Hughes, but applications sent that way are not accepted.
