Overview

Deliveroo, now part of DoorDash, is hiring a New Grad Software Engineer for its Ads engineering team at its London headquarters. Engineering teams at Deliveroo build and scale systems serving millions of customers, riders and partners in a three-sided marketplace, covering real-time logistics, resilient infrastructure and marketplace optimisation. New graduates work on production systems used by millions of people, supported by experienced engineers.

What you will do

The engineer ships high-quality code and contributes to the architecture of services using languages such as Go, Ruby, Python or Scala, takes ownership of specific pieces of work including design and technical implementation, and has a say in the team roadmap. Other duties include simplifying the maintenance and health of production systems and ensuring they are operationally ready, building relationships with other engineering teams to solve marketplace problems, and growing through mentorship from senior colleagues, with the aim of later supporting peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Who can apply

Applicants should hold a degree in computer science or a related technical field and have graduated within the last year. They must be authorised to work in the UK.

Requirements

The employer looks for pride in writing readable, well-designed and well-tested software, experience writing web applications in any language, and strong interest in learning the stack, which includes Go, Ruby on Rails, Python, Scala or Rust. Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and the ability to break complex logistical or technical problems into manageable software solutions are also needed.

How to apply

The interview typically has three to four stages. The role is based at the London headquarters at Cannon Bridge House and requires office attendance at least three days a week. Candidates who need adjustments for a disability or long-term health condition can request support after applying.
