Overview

A UK public sector technology consultancy is looking for a Senior Business Analyst on an initial 6-month contract. The work centres on discovery, capability evaluation and operational assessment rather than software delivery. The analyst works closely with senior stakeholders to design and run structured capability evaluations, engage operational users, coordinate several technology suppliers and gather evidence that will inform large procurement and investment decisions.

What you get

The daily rate is £450 to £500, outside IR35. Work is remote, with occasional travel to London.

What the role involves

In discovery, the analyst runs workshops with operational stakeholders and end users, documents business, user and operational requirements, turns high-level needs into measurable evaluation criteria and develops realistic use cases for controlled technology trials.

For trials, they help plan, mobilise and deliver structured technology trials, coordinate activity across competing suppliers, and make sure data is collected consistently, fairly and objectively so that vendor solutions stay comparable.

In evaluation and reporting, they assess supplier performance against agreed success measures, synthesize evidence from live trials and stakeholder interviews, identify benefits, risks and implementation considerations, and produce evidence-based recommendations for senior decision-makers. They also build working relationships with operational users and senior public sector stakeholders, manage feedback between users and vendors, and present findings in formal presentations and written reports.

Requirements

Active and valid SC security clearance is mandatory; candidates without it cannot be considered. Applicants need proven experience in capability evaluations, discovery phases and evidence-based decision-making. Familiarity with government procurement frameworks, technology trials or public sector digital transformation is highly advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication is needed, including the ability to condense complex data into executive-level summaries.
