Overview

Save the Children is recruiting an Assistant, Field Supply Chain, in Bangladesh. The post is full-time and permanent, in the Business Support programme area, reporting to the Technical Specialist - Warehouse. It provides logistics and supply chain support to field teams, helping deliver and expand programmes in Cox's Bazar, with a focus on procurement and supply management, supplier coordination, dispatch of goods and warehouse tracking.

What you will do

The assistant helps procure and manage supplies so field teams have what they need, coordinates and communicates with suppliers, supports dispatch of goods to field locations, and tracks warehouse items, including their physical arrangement. During a major humanitarian emergency the post holder is expected to work flexibly beyond normal duties, adapting hours, priorities and responsibilities, and may need to work in challenging or disaster-affected environments.

Requirements

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject and previous experience of similar supply chain or logistics work. Experience with an NGO or UN agency is preferred, as is experience supervising casual workers in a warehouse. Knowledge of local markets and supplier negotiation is important, along with an understanding of warehouse storage for different types of goods. Excellent verbal Bangla and workable verbal English are required. Teamwork, organisation, flexibility and the ability to work during emergencies are valued.

About the organisation

Save the Children employs about 25,000 people in more than 100 countries and aims for three breakthroughs by 2030: no child dying from preventable causes before their fifth birthday, all children learning from a quality basic education, and violence against children no longer being tolerated. It offers equal employment opportunities, welcomes applications from underrepresented groups, builds child safeguarding into its recruitment and expects compliance with its global anti-harassment policy.

How to apply

Submit a cover letter and an up-to-date CV. Applicants are asked to provide their current remuneration and salary expectations.
