Research Associate in Extracellular Vesicles Research
Overview
A position is open for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to participate in a translational research project at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience, which is part of the School of Medicine and Population Health at the University of Sheffield. The project centres on extracellular vesicles, involving their isolation from human biofluids and cellular models, analysis of constituents such as proteins, microRNAs, and lipids as potential biomarkers for neurodegenerative disorders, and the assessment of therapeutic efficacy signals. The work takes place on site under the supervision of Professor Pamela Shaw and Professor Heather Mortiboys.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a strong background in extracellular vesicle biology within the context of neuroscience, molecular, and cellular neurobiology, alongside experience in techniques for isolating and characterising extracellular vesicles. Candidates are required to be self-driven, highly motivated, capable of accepting direction, and effective team players with strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills. The role involves conducting semi-independent laboratory research, designing and executing experiments, maintaining accurate records, training junior colleagues, preparing reports, communicating with industrial partners, contributing to scientific manuscripts, and presenting seminars at local, national, and international levels.
