Overview

Sustainers Love Charitable Ministries is recruiting a Fundraising and Development Officer to build its international funding pipeline and support development projects in Uganda. The position is part-time, mid-level and fully remote, so it can be done from anywhere in the world, although it is associated with Kampala, Uganda.

The officer will research foundations, corporations and other international funders whose priorities match the organization's work in Uganda, then prepare and submit grant proposals and letters of intent. Further duties include building relationships with prospective donors, supporting individual giving and crowdfunding campaigns, writing donor communications and impact updates, keeping donor records and deadlines accurate in the organization's CRM, tracking responses from funders, and preparing monthly progress reports. During the first month the officer is expected to develop a six-month fundraising strategy plan.

Who can apply

The organization wants about 2 to 3 years of experience in fundraising, sales, account management, community organizing or a similar field. Strong grant writing, donor research, sponsorship material preparation, storytelling and presentation skills are important, as is the ability to handle sensitive donor information confidentially and to work independently while remote. Experience with donor management or CRM platforms such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce NPSP or Neon CRM is useful, and a CFRE or similar fundraising credential may strengthen an application. Strong English is needed, and French or Spanish is an advantage.

What you get

The role is an independent contractor arrangement paying USD $100 to $800 per month depending on expertise. Pay is a fixed monthly retainer and is not tied to a percentage or commission of funds raised. The contractor is responsible for their own local taxes and insurance.

How to apply

Candidates apply through the organization's listing on Idealist. They should be ready to provide a PDF resume, a mobile number, language information and other required details.

Key dates

Applications are open until December 31, 2026, and the position is scheduled to start on January 12, 2027.
