Remote Chief Operating Officer: Lead Climate Action at Climate Interactive | Salary: $155,000–$175,000
Overview
Climate Interactive is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join its senior leadership team. The organization builds simulations and interactive experiences that show the global and local effects of climate policies and technologies, with the aim of supporting effective and equitable climate action. It reports that its tools have reached more than 1.5 million people, and that its work with MIT Sloan through the Climate Pathways Project and its Climate Ambassadors network has engaged over 18,230 leaders in government, business and finance. It operates as a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund.
The COO reports to the Executive Director and acts as a strategic partner while turning the organization's plans into budgets, staffing structures, systems and measurable results. The post comes as the organization enters a period of focused growth under a new strategic plan.
The role
Duties include building workplans, tracking goals and KPIs, leading annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting and scenario planning, and working with New Venture Fund on accounting and compliance. The COO also oversees billing, contract review, IT, risk management and policies, helps plan fundraising and revenue forecasts with the Executive Director and the Associate Director of Fundraising, supports fee-for-service and licensing work, and leads people operations such as performance management and reviews.
Requirements
The organization wants 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in leadership, operations, finance or related work in nonprofit or similarly complex organizations. Strong financial management, sound judgement, people-operations experience, risk management and emotional intelligence are expected. Experience with fiscally sponsored organizations, leading growth or change, and climate or sustainability work is preferred.
What you get
The starting salary is $155,000 to $175,000, depending on skills and experience.
