Overview

Questpro Women Foundation has issued a call for applications from freelance document translators. The foundation wants young Ugandan women with strong written translation skills to translate documents from English into Uganda's local languages, of which it counts more than 40. The aim is to make written information easier for communities across the country to understand. Selected freelancers are expected to produce accurate translations that keep the meaning, context and intent of the English originals.

Who can apply

Applicants must be young women aged between 18 and 40, be citizens of Uganda, be fluent in one or more Ugandan local languages, have strong written translation skills, and be able to translate documents from English into those languages accurately. Translators covering the country's wide linguistic range are wanted, and applicants indicate in the form which languages they can translate into.

Requirements

Applicants choose one experience category: less than one year, one to three years, or more than three years of translation experience. Previous experience translating written documents is an advantage in selection. Applicants must also upload an example of earlier translation work. The form asks for the following details: full name, email address, telephone number, confirmation of Ugandan citizenship, languages available for translation, years of translation experience and a work sample. One supporting document may be uploaded, with a maximum size of 10 MB.

How to apply

Candidates complete the online application and attach their translation sample before the deadline. A good sample helps show linguistic accuracy, consistency and professional experience. The foundation says the initiative should improve multilingual communication and access to educational materials, public information, development programmes and community resources for speakers of different local languages. The source does not state how freelancers are paid.

Key dates

Applications must be submitted no later than 31 August 2026.
