Overview

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is hiring a full-time Program Coordinator for its AI Initiative. The position is fully remote and can be done from anywhere in the world, with comfort collaborating across time zones and occasional multi-day travel. The Pulitzer Center is an international nonprofit that supports in-depth journalism and works with journalists and educators in more than 80 countries. The coordinator sits at the operational centre of a growing editorial programme combining administration, communications, training coordination, stakeholder engagement, grant administration, data tracking and community management.

What you get

The salary is US$54,500 to US$62,000 per year, depending on experience. US-based employees receive a benefits package including health care coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off, parental leave, professional development support and insurance.

What the role involves

The coordinator runs the bi-weekly AI newsletter, sourcing content, working with writers and tracking performance. They support the AI Spotlight Series by scheduling coaches, organising virtual and in-person training, managing applications, supporting contractors, coordinating translations and helping develop training materials. They also maintain programme dashboards and website metrics, manage the AI Listserv and community initiatives, process grant paperwork, coordinate payments to grantees, fellows and partners, track deliverables, support funder reports, and may help with conferences, panels, travel and new AI products.

Who can apply

Ideal candidates have about five years of experience supporting administrative and programme work for distributed teams, a four-year degree, and an interest in AI, algorithmic accountability, journalism or media. Strong organisation and communication, independence and cultural awareness are essential. Experience with grants, payments, training, virtual events, newsletters, online communities and spreadsheets is valuable. An additional language alongside English is required, with Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia or French listed.
