Program Coordinator, Coachella Valley: Remote Nonprofit Opportunity with ASAP|Salary: USD $45,000–$55,000 per year
Overview
The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) is a nonprofit that helps veterans and their families through the arts, using creative expression to address social isolation and challenges around identity, purpose, loss and military experience. It reports that since 2015 more than 10,000 military-connected people from all 50 states have graduated from its free classes. ASAP is hiring a full-time Program Coordinator for the Coachella Valley, with a salary of $45,000 to $55,000 per year depending on experience.
The coordinator reports to the Los Angeles Program Manager and supports classes, workshops, performances and community events. The role is remote-based, but the person must be in or near Coachella, California, and able to work onsite when needed for classes, performances and partner meetings. Work is 40 hours per week, can vary with the programme calendar, includes some evenings and weekends, and involves local travel.
Responsibilities include coordinating logistics for classes, workshops, performances, open mics and events, working with instructors, venues, volunteers and partners, communicating with applicants, participants, alumni and mentors, supporting applications, waitlists and attendance tracking, promoting programmes in the military-connected community, attending outreach events and resource fairs, finding new partners and venues, and passing on participant concerns, safety issues and access needs appropriately.
Who can apply
ASAP wants a highly organised, proactive person who enjoys logistics and can work independently. Experience or interest in event planning, programme coordination, communications, outreach, arts, veteran affairs, mental health or nonprofit work is encouraged. Work with diverse communities or in trauma-informed or community-based programmes is an advantage, as is familiarity with local arts and veteran-support organisations. Applicants should be comfortable with Google Workspace, Gmail and Slack.
What you get
Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, a 401(k) with a 3% employer contribution, 18 days of paid time off, 12 or more paid holidays, life and disability insurance and a professional development stipend.
How to apply
Applicants submit a resume and a statement of interest covering their background, why they want to join ASAP and how their experience relates to the role. They should also describe a time they adapted quickly to an unexpected challenge, how they responded and the outcome. The subject line should read Coachella Valley Program Coordinator.
