Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Machine Learning
Overview
Two full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Machine Learning are sought to join the Visual Geometry Group at the University of Oxford, located in central Oxford. These positions are connected to two separate research projects funded by Amazon and Toyota Motor Europe, with each successful candidate assigned to one of the projects under the supervision of Dr. João Henriques. Both posts are available for an initial duration of 12 months. The Toyota Motor Europe project, RoboSim, focuses on deep learning at the intersection of computer vision and reinforcement learning to train robotic agents in simulation and develop robust visuomotor policies. The Amazon project investigates robotic manipulation using computer vision and vision-language-action models to help robots handle a variety of objects, including deformable items, and generalize to new environments.
Who can apply
Applicants must hold a relevant PhD or DPhil, or be near completion, in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related field. Near completion is defined as having already submitted the PhD thesis. Candidates must possess a strong publication record at leading international conferences in these relevant areas, as well as adequate theoretical and practical knowledge of deep learning methodologies. Research experience specifically in robotics, computer vision, or reinforcement learning is considered desirable.
What you get
The position offers a salary ranging from £39,424 to £47,779 per annum on Grade 7. The employment is full-time and fixed-term.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online before midday on the closing date.
