Overview
The Climate Leadership Coalition, a Northern European non-profit climate-business network based in Helsinki, is hiring a Policy Specialist. Its members include businesses, universities, research institutions and cities that together employ more than one million people worldwide, and it works to influence climate policy and promote solutions such as carbon pricing and carbon removals. The role is full-time and permanent, mainly in the Helsinki office, with Brussels or Stockholm possible under separately agreed arrangements. The specialist joins an eight-person team and works closely with the Head of Insight and Advocacy, focusing on EU climate, energy and circular economy policy.
What the role involves
The Policy Specialist monitors legislative and political developments, analyses changes in climate, energy and circular economy policy, and prepares background materials, briefings and advocacy content. They contribute to strategic projects and well-founded policy positions, support engagement with policymakers, business representatives and member organisations, prepare meetings, and help coordinate advocacy events, projects and working groups.
Who can apply
The organisation wants an analytical, proactive person with strong interest in climate, energy, circular economy and EU policy. Excellent analytical, organisational, coordination and interpersonal skills are needed, along with excellent written and spoken English. Experience with EU policy, advocacy or stakeholder engagement is valued, as are knowledge of Nordic businesses and experience coordinating events or working groups. Applicants are expected to hold an EU work permit. Flexible arrangements can be made for those relocating, but relocation services are not provided.
What you get
The starting salary is 3,750 to 4,250 euros per month. Staff are expected in the Helsinki office at least two days a week, and the full team is normally on-site every Tuesday. Some European travel is expected, a few trips a year, and evening or weekend work occurs roughly four to six times a year. A six-month probation period applies.

The deadline is Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 9:00 PM CET / 10:00 PM EET. Candidates will be told by September 29, 2026 whether they are invited to interview. First-round interviews are on October 5 and 6, 2026, and the second round on October 19, 2026. The start date is negotiable, ideally as soon as possible, for example January 2027.
