Overview

The Real Farming Trust (RFT) is hiring an Operations Assistant to provide administrative, financial, governance and coordination support to its small, values-led organisation. The role is permanent, part-time and fully remote within the UK, with occasional travel for team away days. RFT works across food and farming systems with a focus on agroecology, food justice and systems change. The assistant works closely with the Operations Manager to keep day-to-day internal operations running smoothly.

What you will do

Administration and coordination tasks include scheduling meetings, managing shared calendars, organising logistics for away days and meetings, keeping records in shared Google Drives, keeping contracts and insurance documents up to date, supporting recruitment administration and writing and updating internal How To guides. Finance work covers processing and categorising transactions in QuickBooks, supporting invoice processing and keeping records on funding bids, grant agreements and reporting deadlines. For governance, the assistant takes minutes at Board meetings and supports policy reviews and research. The assistant also helps with internal staff communications such as intranet and email updates.

Requirements

Applicants need strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, confidence with Google Workspace and spreadsheets, good written communication and the ability to work independently in a remote team. Administration or coordination experience is useful. Experience with a charity or values-led organisation, QuickBooks or similar systems, or minute-taking is desirable. The role is advertised as UK-based remote work, not worldwide.

What you get

The salary is 28,272 pounds full-time equivalent, which is 11,308.80 pounds at 0.4 FTE for 15 hours per week. Benefits include 25 days of annual leave plus 8 bank holidays pro rata, three gifted days between Christmas and New Year, flexible working, a 350 pound annual wellbeing and training budget and an equipment subsidy of up to 550 pounds after probation, and a 4% employer-matched pension contribution.

How to apply

Candidates apply through the Real Farming Trust application process. The review is anonymised, so applicants should remove their name and email address from their CV and cover letter and give contact details through the application form.
