NASA Spring 2027 OSTEM Internships: Apply for Paid NASA Internship Opportunities Before September 14, 2026

Overview

NASA has opened applications for its Spring 2027 Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) Internship Program. Students contribute to real NASA projects and work alongside NASA professionals, receiving guidance and mentorship while building technical and professional skills. NASA offers these internships to more than 2,000 students a year in three sessions: spring, summer and fall. Spring and fall sessions generally run about 15 weeks, and summer sessions about 10 weeks.

What interns do

Depending on the placement, interns may conduct research and analysis, support scientific or engineering activities, develop technical solutions, analyse data, help with communications and outreach, contribute to technology development and work with NASA scientists and engineers. NASA states that opportunities are not limited to STEM majors, and non-STEM students should check individual project descriptions. The experience can help interns explore NASA careers, build skills such as teamwork and problem-solving, and strengthen applications for graduate study, scholarships and jobs.

Who can apply

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 16 years old at the time of application, hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, and be full-time or part-time students from undergraduate to graduate level at a U.S. Department of Education-accredited degree-granting institution, in a course of study aligned with NASA's needs. Educators enrolled as students can be eligible. Recent graduates may be eligible for the three sessions immediately following graduation, subject to NASA's requirements.
